Images, music, and other digital artworks are easy for anyone to copy unlimited times, which makes it difficult to attach value to them.
NFTs present a solution to this problem by allowing artists to create pieces with a digital signature to verify authenticity as the original piece.
This signature is part of a blockchain—a secure database technology that is publicly visible and unable to be changed by anyone.
This means buyers can purchase digital art with the confidence that the works will not lose value upon reproduction. The NFT is stored in their digital wallet and can be resold just like physical art.
It is important to note that digital art associated with NFTs can still be copied like any other digital media, but copying an image does not copy the underlying digital contract that validates the true ownership of the image.
